One day, I asked my boss a question that had been bothering me for a while.
“Why do you always seem to hire married men?”
He leaned back in his chair…
Smiled…
And said,
“Simple.”
“Because they’ve already mastered patience.”
I laughed.
“Patience? How so?”
He started counting on his fingers.
“They’re used to being interrupted.”
“They’re used to being corrected.”
“They’re used to being reminded about everything.”
“…and they’re even used to being told they’re wrong…”
“…especially when they’re pretty sure they’re right.”
I couldn’t help laughing.
“Fair enough…”
“Anything else?”
He nodded without hesitation.
“Oh, absolutely.”
“They never complain about working late.”
I looked puzzled.
“Why not?”
He grinned and delivered the punchline.
“Because compared to going home…”
“…the office feels like a vacation.” 😂🤣
I wasn’t sure whether to laugh…
…or head home early.
