Two drunks were stumbling down a quiet street late one night when one of them suddenly stopped and pointed up at the sky.
“Wow,” he said, swaying slightly, “what a beautiful night. Just look at that moon!”
His friend squinted up for a moment, then shook his head.
“Moon? Are you kidding? That’s not the moon. That’s the sun.”
“The sun?” the first drunk scoffed. “Have you completely lost your mind? It’s obviously the moon!”
The second drunk folded his arms stubbornly.
“Nope. It’s the sun.”
For the next several minutes, the two argued back and forth, each becoming more convinced that he was right and the other was completely wrong.
Finally, they spotted another man walking toward them down the street.
“Perfect!” said the first drunk. “Let’s ask him.”
They stopped the stranger.
“Sir,” one of them said, “could you please settle an argument for us?”
The man nodded.
The first drunk pointed at the bright object in the sky.
“Can you tell us what that is? I say it’s the moon.”
“And I say it’s the sun,” the second drunk added.
The stranger looked up at the sky for a few seconds. Then he looked at both men.
After thinking carefully, he shrugged and said,
“Sorry, I don’t live around here.”
