An old farmer wrote to his son, who was in prison:
“Dear Son, I’m afraid I won’t be able to plant potatoes this year. I’m too old to dig the field by myself. I wish you were here to help me.”
A few days later, he received a reply:
“Dad, whatever you do, DON’T dig that field! That’s where I buried all the money I stole!”
The farmer nearly fainted.
Unfortunately, the police intercepted the letter.
The very next morning, a whole team of police officers showed up at the farm and dug up the entire field looking for the stolen money.
They searched everywhere.
Nothing.
Not a single dollar.
The next day, the farmer received another letter from his son:
“Okay, Dad. Now you can plant the potatoes.”
“Sorry I couldn’t help you myself, but that’s the best I could do from here!”
The farmer smiled.
His son may have been behind bars…
But apparently, he still knew how to get free labor!
