It’s awful that someone would dump a puppy, but happily, there are compassionate people willing to step in and save these discarded pets.
Recently, a puppy was left tethered to a picnic table in the rain until his savior went out to save him.
Stray Rescue of St. Louis posted a video of a little dog tethered to a bench in a local park’s picnic area.
The dog was alone, drenched from the rain, and terrified; the footage shows him continuously yelping as if begging for help.
However, a rescuer called Donna arrived on the scene and untied the small puppy, and he soon warmed up to her, as if he realized he was safe.
“He was so brave when we first approached, but then as soon as we got in the Jeep he curled up on Donna’s lap and let out a deep sigh – that sigh said so much,” noted the folks at Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
“We’ve got you, gorgeous little baby. We’ll have your darling self completely fixed up in no time.”
The dog was given the name Wilbur by the rescuers. They realized he was “covered in ringworm,” and treated him with medicinal baths.
Wilbur was placed in a loving foster home just days after his rescue. His foster mother told The Dodo he was “doing great” and was a “snuggle bug.” “He wants nothing more than to be loved,” she told me.
It’s unclear where Wilbur came from, but it’s apparent he wasn’t getting the love and care he deserved. But now the little pup’s future seems bright.
“He’ll never have to be lonely or muster up that much bravery ever again,” Stray Rescue of St. Louis wrote on Facebook.
