Palace issue statement after royal admitted to hospital

Denmark’s Queen Margrethe, 85, who resigned last year, is predicted to be discharged from hospital soon, the Danish royal household reported on Friday.

“Her Majesty is recovering and in good spirits,” the Royal House announced in a statement.

“Queen Margrethe is therefore expected to be discharged from Rigshospitalet and return to Fredensborg Palace over the weekend,” it continued.

On Thursday, the queen had been admitted to Copenhagen’s main hospital for observation due to a cold, as “a precaution”.

Earlier on Thursday, the former monarch was forced to quit an upcoming public engagement as she had fallen ill.

She was due to take part in celebrations for the 125th anniversary of the Sankt Lukas Foundation in Hellerup, a foundation that offers health and welfare services in Denmark.

Margrethe who turned 85 on April 16, was last witnessed in public on Sunday during a service commemorating the 80th anniversary of Denmark’s liberation from Nazi occupation.

The former sovereign reigned in the Scandinavian country for 52 years before passing the throne to her eldest son, Frederik, in January 2024. She announced her decision to abdicate on New Year’s Eve.

Prince Harry Argues He And Meghan Were ‘Forced’ To Step Down As Working Royals Due To ‘Inferior Treatment’

The announcement comes as the Duke of Sussex arrives in London for a two-day court hearing.

Harry stated how he and his wife were compelled to step aside and relinquish their leadership positions as working royals because they had no other option.

He went on to say that he wasn’t getting the protection he deserved from the institution, which was reason enough to quit.

Harry has flown more than 5000 miles to the Courts of Justice to support his own two-day appeal against a verdict regarding the right he and his family have to tax-funded bodyguards while visiting the United Kingdom.

However, the Home Office’s barrister explained how Harry’s appeal demonstrates a persistent failure to see the forest for the trees.

The news comes as the Daily Mail shared how Harry wasn’t able to get a glimpse of his dad when he arrived because he landed at the same time that his father, King Charles, left for a historic trip to Italy.
