King Charles’s cancer diagnosis announced in January and Kate’s devastating news about her health in March – sparked rumours swirling of a potential softening of hearts and thawing in relations
After Princess Kate and King Charles both disclosed their cancer news, royal observers believed themselves that the conflict between the Royal Family and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would eventually come to an end.
Ever since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry left their positions to begin a new life in California, there have been a lot of conflicts inside “the Firm.” It looked difficult for the royal family to get back together after the Duke and Duchess made several shocking accusations about them in high-profile interviews.
According to Yahoo! News, Kate’s devastating news about her health in March, following King Charles’s cancer diagnosis, which was announced in January, sent rumours swirling of a potential softening of hearts and thawing in relations. Harry and Megan’s announcement in 2020 made Royal fans and even the Royal family sh0cked after everyone was left in the dark.
A statement from the couple confirmed the news, despite some stories claiming they were only informed for ten minutes. Following the public announcement, the Royal Family and its advisors set about organizing the details of Meghan and Harry’s future lives.
Commonwealth Day was decided upon as the date of the couple’s last royal engagement after heated discussions and final plans were established. An expert in body language suggested that the encounter between Kate and Meghan was especially unpleasant, therefore it was inevitable that the yearly gathering would be heated with emotions still running high between Palace walls.
Following tradition, Meghan and Harry arrived to Westminster Abbey ahead of Prince William and Kate due to their younger age. They seated themselves in the second row and bided their time until the more senior royals arrived. As the family entered, including her father-in-law King Charles and the Prince of Wales, Meghan grinned and gave Kate a brief, awkward wave.
Judi James said the gesture as a “rather odd greeting ritual” when she spoke at the time. “It wasn’t the warm reunion that we were all hoping for,” she stated to The Mirror. Particularly evident in Harry’s body language was the strain. He groped for his wedding band, a self-comfort, as soon as he came, the minute he and Meghan had to shake hands. He was missing her, needing her support, even while she was beside him and they had stopped holding hands.
“As Harry walked up the aisle, they both waved at the children, but his face otherwise was quite tense and unsmiling. Harry and Meghan looked a lot more genuinely cheerful, and Harry especially, threw a really affectionate smile at Kate. But when it was William, you could see Harry was slightly more rigid and his lips were closed.”
