A man who has visited every country has revealed his top pick for the best place in the world.
Drew Binsky, who grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona, has always enjoyed adventure.
In 2015, he set out on a journey to visit all 197 countries – the United Nations only acknowledges 195, but the exact number of countries on Earth varies depending on the source, according to BBC Science Focus.
Throughout his voyage, the traveler has amassed a sizable social media following, including six million Facebook followers, 4.3 million YouTube subscribers, and over one million Instagram fans.
He has also written a travel book called ‘Just Go,’ which is characterized as a ‘globe-trotting guide.’
Binsky has revealed his favorite country, stating that it contains ‘everything you could desire in one country.’
The avid traveler caught the ‘travel bug’ after studying abroad in Prague during his junior year of college.
Binsky left the United States two months after graduating to teach English in South Korea. He was motivated to succeed despite his lack of expertise.
His blog’s ‘about’ page reads: “From the moment I stepped off the plane in Seoul, I was instantly hooked. It was my first time in Asia, and I was already in love with the foreign sights, smells, and feels.”
Binsky departed South Korea in 2015 and embarked on a goal to see all countries.
Binsky continues in his blog: “Over the last few years, I’ve developed a love for visiting countries that are perceived as dangerous – Afghanistan, Venezuela, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Libya, and Iran.
“Some of my best memories have come from these nations and I love breaking the stereotypes by sharing positive stories about people and culture.”
Traveling to such countries has not always been easy for the adventurer, as Binsky had difficulties entering Venezuela.
Speaking with UNILAD, he emphasized that this is a special issue for Americans.
“I ended up getting the visa from the Venezuelan embassy but they were difficult because of the sanctions and political tensions between the U.S. and Venezuela, but I was able to get one last minute,” he explained.
Binsky also stated that some ‘Eastern European’ countries are not particularly inviting to tourists, and that people might be ‘quite frigid.’
Binsky was also asked during the interview if there was one place in particular that stood out to him, to which he said yes.
He describes the Philippines as the’most beautiful country in the world,’ feeling’super safe’ and ‘full of wonderful people.’
However, Binksy and his wife do not intend to settle there.
The traveler tells UNILAD that he and his partner enjoy the ‘culture’ of Dubai and intend to relocate there at some time.
