Hoping to reignite the reckless fires of their youth, an elderly couple made a pact to completely recreate their very first secret date at their old teenage riverbank hangout.
The next morning, Grandpa bolted out of bed at 6:00 AM, bursting with romantic energy. He dashed down to the riverbank, picked a gorgeous bouquet of wild flowers before sunrise, and waited with a racing heart for his sweetheart to arrive.
But noon came and went. The sun set, total darkness fell, and she never arrived.
Furious, exhausted, and freezing, Grandpa finally stomped back home. He slammed the front door open, only to find Grandma lounging comfortably on the sofa. He threw the wilted flowers at her feet and demanded, “I waited in the cold for twelve hours! Why on earth didn’t you show up?!”
Grandma pulled a throw pillow over her blushing face and whispered shyly:
“Because Mom wouldn’t let me go.”
