A mother notices something wrong in her daughter’s maths homework. She immediately asks her daughter (nicknamed Beer).
Mom: Beer, 2 x 5 = ?
Beer: Well, 2 x 5 = 10.
Mom: Your answer is totally correct. So you will need to check the answer for one of your maths homework you’ve done.
That excercise reads: “1 dumpling is steamed in 2 minutes. So how many minutes will you steam 5 dumplings?”. Why’s your answer 2? The correct answer must be 10 minutes. You need to improve your mathmatical thinking.
Beer: So, have you ever steamed the dumpling one by one? Or you will just need 2 minutes for 5 dumplings. That’s really mathmatical thinking, mom!
