Barron Trump defended after being called out over ‘ear thing’ during dad’s inauguration

Barron Trump has been defended after a motion he made at his father’s inauguration on 20 January drew criticism.

Donald Trump’s inauguration as 47th President of the United States was fraught with controversy.

Another event that piqued viewers’ interest featured Trump’s youngest son, Barron.

Barron, the tallest member of the Trump family, has spent most of his time away from the spotlight since his father assumed the presidency in 2016.

It all started when Barron was introduced by his father on stage, and Trump asked the audience, “Have you ever heard of him?”

He then introduced his 18-year-old son as having won ‘the youth vote’ and credited him with helping him win the election.

“I have a very tall son,” Trump said. “He knew the youth vote. We won the youth vote by 36 points. He was saying – ‘Dad, you have to go out and do this one or that one’. We did a lot of them. He respects them all, he understood them very well.”

According to the BBC, Barron received one of the evening’s loudest cheers at this point, and when he stood and thanked the audience, he was seen putting his hand to his ear.

On social media, fans were quick to share their reactions to the gesture.

One person said, “He was fine until he did the ear thing…”

Another said: “Don’t ever raise your children to Act like this.”

However, many people have backed the boy, with some believing he was either making a joke or simply displaying his ‘human’ side.

One viewer commented: “Pls stop, some can’t hear loud noises. It’s louder in their ears than it’s in reality. Or vice verse. Be kind. Kindness reflects who you are.”

Someone else added: “Imagine being controversial because he did an ‘ear thing’…?!?!”

Another claimed: “Maybe its joke from young man.”

Barron appears to have used the hand-on-ear movement to either hear the crowd or to convey ‘I can’t hear you,’ which may have prompted people to cheer harder.

While no one knows why he acted, the 6ft 7in lad appears to have amassed a fanbase.
