Getting married is among the most important milestones in life because it marks a new chapter and a new beginning. It also symbolizes the coming together of two people and the birth of a new family.
For couples, a wedding ceremony can be a particularly emotional moment. So, it’s understandable when brides shed a few tears on their special day. However, if you look closely, you will spot quite a number of men who get teary-eyed too.
Since men are the less emotional gender, it’s a bit surprising to see many of them crying on their wedding day. That however should not be a shocker because they’re human beings too! If you have ever wondered why this happens, allow us to walk you through some of the reasons why they shed a tear or two
1. His bride looks beautiful and he is happy
A man’s bride may look like an angel, far more beautiful than he had ever thought, and the thought of spending forever with this beauty can move him to shed tears of joy.
2. Remembering how their love story began
Whenever some men face their soon-to-be wives and begin the recitation of wedding vows, they recall with nostalgia how their journey as a couple began. It further intensifies when grooms give their speeches at their wedding reception and audibly recollect the process that made their wedding day possible.
This happens because some grooms were initially given tough times by their wives to the extent that they were blanked or served breakfast for a while or had to endure initial rejection from the bride’s parents, or had to forcefully get approval from their (grooms’) families or even cast aside their families to ensure that they married the love of their life.
Therefore, some grooms remember all these challenges that they went through, including heartbreaks and reconciliations, immediately after they spot their wives on the wedding day or are detailing how their relationship started during their speech at the reception. The grooms are amazed that their dreams of getting married are finally being realised, and they become emotional. Remembering all the struggles could sometimes lead to a rush of emotions to the extent that tears just start rolling down their cheeks uncontrollably.
3. He is being performative
Perhaps he is extra dramatic or is a content creator and is feeling like showing off his acting skills so that people can aww and like his video online.
Either way, we applaud the show of emotions but wonder how men have shifted from being hunters and gathering to letting their vulnerability show.
4. He doesn’t want to get married
Sometimes, when a man is seen crying on his wedding day, people are inclined to think and believe that maybe he doesn’t really want to get married.
5. He is scared of commitment
If the trumpet rang and the world was ending, this crying man might be so happy to know that he doesn’t have to go through with his wedding. The thought of commitment might scare him, but he can’t run away, so he cries.
