Grandpa was taking little Johnny on a grand tour around the family farm, showing him the ropes. As they walked up to the muddy corral, Johnny noticed two animals together and asked what they were doing.
Grandpa cleared his throat, scratched his chin, and explained, “Well, son, that’s a bull and a cow, and he’s currently serving her.”
Johnny nodded, taking in the new information. A little later on, they walked past the stables and saw two horses out in the field.
Grandpa pointed his finger and said, “And over there, that’s a stud and a mare, and he’s servicing her, too.”
Johnny nodded again, quietly absorbing this new farm vocabulary.
That night at supper, the entire family gathered around the dining table. A massive, beautifully roasted turkey sat right in the center of the spread. Everyone took their seats, held hands, and said grace.
The moment the prayer ended, Grandma turned to Grandpa with a sweet smile and said, “Darling, will you please serve the turkey?”
Instantly, little Johnny jumped completely out of his chair, his eyes wide with absolute horror, and yelled:
“If he does, I’m eating a hamburger!”
