Bishop T.D. Jakes, a prominent Christian pastor and motivational speaker, experienced a health emergency following his sermon this weekend.
In a statement released on Sunday, November 24, via his official social media channels, it announced that he is stable and under the care of medical professionals.
The announcement followed an episode during a sermon at The Potter’s House of Dallas, where Jakes was observed pausing and being assisted by others on stage. The moment, which occurred during a live-streamed service, paid widespread attention and concern from viewers.
“During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message,” the church said in a statement.
In his sermon onstage, Bishop T.D. Jakes was seen sitting in a chair, wiping his forehead with a cloth, and reflecting on the toll of preaching, telling his audience, “It’s giving back more than you gave.”
After he had shared a few additional words, Jakes lowered his microphone and appeared to look downward before seemingly experiencing convulsions. Many staffs onstage quickly gathered around to assist him, and the livestream was subsequently cut off.
